The 2009-2010 college basketball season gets underway officially tonight and the Syracuse Orange look to make it a party as Hall of Fame head coach Jim Boeheim looks to earn coaching career victory #800 when SU welcomes Albany to the Dome for a 9 PM tip.

The University at Albany is the invited guest/victim in the first round of the 2K Sports Classic to benefit Coaches vs. Cancer, which can been seen on ESPNU, but the Danes Look to Crash Coach's Party Albany Times-Union) and may have given UAlbany some hope with their recent exhibition loss to D-II LeMoyne.

For the Orange, this game is important in more than just getting that season-opening win. On one hand, SU needs to put the LeMoyne memory behind them and move forward by distancing themselves from that game. On the other hand, Syracuse Aims for Boeheim's 800th Win in Season Opener (Syracuse Post-Standard), a milestone that would join Boehiem with Duke's coach K and UConn's Jim Calhoun as the only active coaches with 800 or more wins. The milestone is easily secondary in Boeheim's mind as he looks to prepare a young SU backcourt that is dealing with the loss of juniors Jonny Flynn, Eric Devendorf and Paul Harris to the professional ranks after last season.
